Some good music came out this week; ranging from one end of the genre spectrum to the next. This week’s top two tracks however would have to be:
1. Phil Cook – “Ain’t It Sweet”
This fun and cheery Southern rock/blue grass tune will have you up on your feet in no time at all. It is full of heart, passion, and love for life. Its vocal harmonies and delicate instrumentation make it one of the most memorable songs of the week. “Ain’t It Sweet” will be on the album “Southland Mission” out September 11th via Thirty Tigers/Middle West.

2. Windhand – “Hyperion”
Female lead doom metal band Windhand put out a fantastically sludgy new single this week called “Hyperion”. It takes the older concept of doom metal and takes it in a completely different direction by making the heavy riffs sound more sludgy and the vocals more grungy; all in a very 90’s kind of way. It is a fascinating blend of genres. “Hyperion” will be on Windhand’s upcoming album “Grief’s Infernal Flower” out September 18th via Relapse Records.
