Spike Jonze’s new movie, Her, is about a divorced guy that finds solace talking to a high-tech version of Siri. Siri is voiced by Scarlett Johansson and she’s stupid hot, but he doesn’t get to see or touch her. This is an almost phantasmagorical proposition. It seems to be an allegorical take on people falling in love with celebrities they never met, long distance relationships and that misplaced fanboyism people have for their devices. At some point in the trailer, Joaquin Phoenix asserts to be in love with the machine. Sounds crazy, right? I have high hopes for this movie and all the discussions it’s going to initiate. This trailer reminded of the story of a man claiming to be married to Twilight Sparkle, you know, from My Little Pony.
