Boston based punk rock band Casanovas in Heat have just released a bouncy new single “Jaded” (which can be listened to below via SoundCloud) which will be on their upcoming album “Twisted Steel, Sex Appeal” some time early next year via Katorga Works.
“Jaded” has a jangly kind of quality to it that really reminds of The Cure in some ways. The timbre of the vocalist only further deepens the resemblance to me. You would hardly be able to tell that this was an American band rather than one from the UK playing this song if you didn’t know any better. However, that is not to say the song lacks originality. “Jaded” is far more punchy and overdriven. Stereogum goes into further detail, saying:
Casanovas In Heat are a punk rock band in the Exploding Hearts sense, which means deep within the grooves of carnal guitars and heavy bass of “Jaded” is a throbbing melody. The group’s forthcoming Twisted Steel, Sex Appeal was produced by Ben Greenberg (The Men, Uniform, Hubble), and its lead single is an escape into the realm of inhibited dissonance.
This is the perfect tune to add to your “just got off work on a Friday afternoon” playlist. It will have you moving and jumping in the way only punk rock can.
