Five years after the debut of “Further“, British electronic duo Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands (A.K.A. The Chemical Brothers) are releasing a new album. According to electronic music magazine Resident Advisor, “Born in the Echoes”, set to be released on July 17, will feature not only the titular artists but also guests including Welsh singer Cate Le Bon, English musician and Hot Natured/Infinity Ink member Ali Love, American singer Beck Hansen, and American musician/songwriter Annie Clark (A.K.A. St. Vincent).
While the duo themselves haven’t released an official album since 2010’s “Further”, they have been keeping busy whilst preparing for the release of “Born in the Echoes”. In 2012, they released a live album/concert film entitled “Don’t Think“, which met a generally positive critical reception, with a 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Empire referring to it as “blistering, cinematic ecstasy”. The duo also did work last year with Miguel for “This is Not a Game“, featured on “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1” soundtrack.
Guest artists have also been keeping plenty busy, with Cate Le Bon recently announcing her work with Tim Presley of White Fence on a new album called Drinks, coming on August 21. While Beck Hansen has just produced his first album with Thurston Moore’s “Demolished Thoughts”, Infinity Ink will be performing in France, Turkey, and Belgium throughout the rest of the summer. Meanwhile, St. Vincent, after having won the Best Alternative Music Album Award for “St. Vincent” at the Grammys earlier this year, is also currently on her worldwide summer tour.
The Chemical Brothers’ “Born in the Echoes” will be available where music is sold on July 17. The music video for their track, “Go” is available on YouTube and can be viewed below.
