Pop rock super stars Coldplay have just premiered a funky disco single titled “Adventure of a Lifetime” (which can be listened to below via YouTube) which will be on their upcoming album “A Head Full of Dreams” that will be coming out on December 4th via Parlophone and Atlantic.
“Adventure of a Lifetime” while having quite a bit of modernized guitar melody and tone has an unusual amount of disco vibe for this day and age, though I guess it isn’t that big of a surprise considering how lately funk has been making a comeback in various ways. It is a fun pop song to get up and move to in the club, that’s for sure. Stereogum goes into further detail, saying:
The album’s first single is certainly a bright, sparkly pop tune, even by this band’s standards. We’ve already heard a bit of “Adventure Of A Lifetime,” but the whole thing is online now. And it’s a Coldplay take on disco-funk, with an Afro-pop guitar figure and some strutting rhythm-section work along with all the usual vague uplift.
If this is the band’s last album, it is sure one hell of an interesting way to go out. This sounds like it will be a fun album.
