Fantasy Memory – Bunny Lion // Rat Trap

First and Foremost, Fantasy Memory is ecstatic to announce the reissue of Bunny Lion Red, due out February 17th.

Anyone a fan of Linval Thompson will rejoice. This is the first time that Bunny Lion Red has been available digitally and on CD, and the first 300 copies are pressed on red vinyl. The LP will include unreleased photos and interviews with Puddy Lion and Linval Thompson.

If you’re a fan of this old-style Jamaican reggae, with the vintage crisp vocals and adhering those vinyl style recordings be sure to check this out. If you’re less familiar with it then heres a brief history concerning the minds behind the music.

As dancehall became more prominent in the late 1970s, Thompson began to offer up his rhythms to sound system deejays. The mysterious deejay LP, Red, was originally released on London’s Starlight records in 1979. Little was written about the album at the time; however, we have uncovered that Bunny Lion is in fact the legendary Puddy Roots of Killamanjaro Soundsystem fame. Red features ten grooving Thompson Sound rhythms voiced by Puddy. This is the earliest documented work of the criminally under-recorded Puddy Roots. It’s also the perfect gateway record for anyone curious about dub, roots reggae, or dancehall.

Anyways, I’m loving the fresh but not so new vibes. Check out Bunny Lion on:
