I’m a sucker for gangsta ass novelty, especially when Freddie Gibbs is serving it up.
The guy has a certain type of anger in his bars, crossing the line between street vernacular and stove-heated discussion. He yells in gruff streaks, about cash stacks, his love of drugs, and ready-to-go after show hoes. While most rappers fail horribly at making their respective ghettos seem grand, Gibbs pulls you in close, into the cobwebs and crime scenes of his homeland.
“Cocaine Parties in L.A.” shows Gibbs pimpin’ his adjectives and flipping nouns flawlessly.
