North Carolina based country rock band Mount Moriah have released a deliciously Southern harmonious and relaxingly engaging new track “Calvander” (which can be listened to below via SoundCloud), which will be released as a 7″ A side single via Merge Records on October 9th.
Lead singer Heather McEntire has a Southern twang that will comfort you and make you feel right at home the moment she starts singing and telling you her story. “Calvander” will have you feeling like you are up on a big front porch at a country home watching the sun set and the animals go by while talking to an old friend. Pitchfork goes into further detail saying:
Yet, more than the story itself it’s the way she tells the story that makes you pull up a chair. “Calvander” is what you might call a front-porch song. It’s in no particular rush to get anywhere, but instead is happy to hang out for however long you got.
Indeed, if you are not in a hurry to get anywhere or want something that will put you into that kind of mind set then “Calvander” is exactly what the doctor ordered.
