Oneohtrix Point Never – “Ezra”

oneoh2

Oneohtrix Point Never has put out a rather odd and exploratory new single “Ezra” (which can be listened to below via SoundCloud) that will be on his upcoming album “Gardens of Delete” that will be out tomorrow (11/13) via Warp Records.

“Ezra” is wonderfully strange in so many ways. The intro makes it sound like you are listening to something online, but it needs to buffer. The only reason I didn’t think that was the case was because of how the sound waves looked on the SoundCloud window. Once you get through that part though, it feels like you are listening to something that came out of an early 90’s video game; though there is a lack of discernible melody like those games’ music had. Noisey goes into further detail, saying:

Oneohtrix Point Never has been steadily building the story and craft to his new record, Gardens of Delete. The album’s backstory contains references to strange bands, an alien kid named Ezra, kingdoms and more. But most importantly, the record is a total exploration of all types of sound in electronic music, as seen with his new song “Ezra.” Moments can sound like strange video game battle sequences, feelings of alienation, and every spectrum of emotion.

If you’re ready to explore and feel things, you’ve come to the right place.
