The Village Voice’s Annual 4Knots Music Festival will be returning again for its fifth year of musical enjoyment on July 11th, 2015. The Festivities are set for performances at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park (West 44th St, 12th Ave
New York, NY 10036) from 1-10PM. Ticket information can be found here. Continuing the to celebrate the strong music scene, The Village Voice will showcase a bunch of great talent for NYC music fans, rain or shine. To get you all revved up for this day of tunes, please see a preview of the acts that will grace us with their awesome rock and roll.

Super Furry Animals:

First off on our list is the headliner of the day, Super Furry Animals (SFA). These Welsh musicians are coming back on the front lines of the music world after a hiatus since 2009, which was the release of their ninth album Dark Days / Light Years. From that album lies my favorite song of theirs, Crazy Naked Girls. 4Knots will be their first NYC performance in six years, so they will be sure to bring out their entire musical prowess to the stage. Super Furry Animals consists of rockers Gruff Rhys, Cian Ciaran, Dafydd Ieuan, Huw Bunford and Guto Pryce. SFA’s music is a mix of experimentation and trippy rock that will be sure to interest listeners far and wide at 4Knots. Fans old and new will be overjoyed with this performance.

Mikal Cronin:

Next up is Mikal Cronin, your garage-accented pop guru of the ages. Feel free to jam out to his unique tunes here. This Cali lad pairs some interesting brash music to enhance the thrill of raucous-pop for all. Although his music has risen since 2011, he is set to bring light to his new album, MC III, that listeners all around can enjoy and rock on to. Part of his tour includes performances with Father John Misty and an opening slot for Death Cab for Cutie at the Hollywood Bowl! Also, not to mention a recent appearance on Conan! Lucky son of a gun… He will be someone to watch at 4Knots.

Twin Peaks:

Out of all the bands playing at 4Knots, Twin Peaks were the only ones I knew for sure. I have already been a fan of their tunes, Making Breakfast and I Found A New Way. To attest to their great musak, beyond 4Knots they will also be performing at the Reading Festival & Leeds Festival along with the Roskilde Festival as well! Top marks good sirs. They can be described eloquently via their Facebook page as such: “FIVE doods, gnarly ‘tudes, total hunks, play to drunks.” Could not have said it better myself. The band consists of rockers Cadien Lake James, Clay Frankel, Jack Dolan, Connor Brodner and Colin Croom.

Happyness:

Continuing down the line we have the great Happyness. Key tracks to jam to are Naked Patients and Montreal Rock Band Somewhere. Jonny Allan, Benji Compston and Ash Cooper make up the British crew of Happyness and they do not disappoint. These guys are the fresh new obsession all music fans will soon relate. Talented musicians all, they each work their magic by switching positions when in the studio and have some of the most addictive tunes to date. I hope to see them carry that talent live at 4Knots. I have a feeling they will impress.

Meatbodies:

Next we have Meatbodies, who grace listeners with heavy-groovy tunes. Hailing from LA, Meatbodies will enlighten 4Knots with their loud music that causes many to bounce around. Whether concertgoers will be moshing or simply dancing their butts off, Meatbodies will be sure to bring the uninhabited fun to the summer stage. You cannot help but tap the feet as this music enters the eardrums. After touring with fellow 4Knots musician Mikal Cronin, Chad Ubovich eventually made his way solo into the music scene and has been ripping it apart ever since. I predict an unforgettable performance to come.

Heaters:

Last but certainly not least is the Michigan band Heaters. The group of talent includes Andrew Tamlyn, Nolan Krebs and Joshua Korf. Filled with what can be categorized as jangly rock music, the trio provides a distinctive presence in the music domain. Filled with crashing rock and roll, listeners can enter the metal garbage pails and banging thrills to come from these guys. I can only imagine that Heaters will spur an intensely chaotic buzz ride at 4Knots. Prepare yourselves fans, for a memorable lineup of amazing entertainment and excitement!
