Track Review: Goat – “I Sing in Silence”

Goat-I-Sing-In-Silence-640x640

Stereogum premiered Swedish band Goat’s newest video for the track “I Sing in Silence.”

Goat has always been experimental. There is presentation of that world music sound in conjunction with some modern lo-fi vocals. This fusion of sounds is very prevalent in this track; this juxtaposition matching nicely with the visuals in the video with color plastered against white. It’s beautiful in its simplicity, but it has a lot of power behind it which is dominating, but not overwhelming.

The sound is unique compared to others in its genre in modern music, but provides a homey tone, something familiar. The song has an undeniable sway and immersion in its sound. The flutes and woodwind sound with the guitar provide almost a hypnotic trance, alongside the near chanting, compelling lyricism and vocals.
