At the rate that Mac DeMarco is debuting new songs, we might have heard everything from his upcoming mini-LP Another One before it even comes out, not that anyone’s complaining.
Debuting on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, “No Other Heart” is a bluesy number that would fit snugly on his last record, Salad Days. The deeply introspective and melancholy lyrics get swept by the breezy guitars that Mac has turned into a craft the past few years. It’s introspective BBQ music, which is a compliment for Mac. After all, we all need a tune to play when cooking up something good.
In other news, Mac released an actual BBQ cookout soundtrack titled Some Other Ones, an instrumental collection which you can download for free on his Bandcamp. Mac’s also been keeping busy recently playing Jenga with Shamir and impersonating Michael Jackson (sort of). Essentially, Mac is now the Most Interesting Man in Indie™.
