From Sway In The Morning to the ever-growing Atlanta hip hop scene, Z. Rich has been making a name for himself.
With a seemingly effortless sense of heart, Z never seems to put a mask over the state of his emotional being when he records and freestyles. He speaks frankly, yet hopeful, and with his latest video series entitled #LifeRap, there’s certainly more bars and stories to be shared.
“20/285” is a quick session, a jam that barely lasts a minute and a half. But, within that span of time, the York Pennsylvanian rapper showcases exactly who he is and what he can do. “I’ll admit it, I’ve had my fair share of disappointments, I ain’t always made the best choices” is Z at his most honest state, the humble side of a guy who wears “savage” across his t-shirt.
So far, there are only 6 episodes in the series, but each one has it’s own mood and feel. Each segment features different musicians behind the wordsmith, one of which is Ben Wogu, whose keyboard playing glides together with Z’s rapping.
FAME may not have a lot of views yet, but by the time the rest of the hip hop world catches onto the acoustic, slow-burning authenticity of what Z.Rich and crew have accomplished, at least you’ll be there to say “I told you so.”
The fifth episode of #LifeRap shows a lot of Z’s heart, from the sincerity in his voice when he flows on the mic to the Pittsburgh Penguins jersey he wears to remind him where he came from. The guy shows respect for the places he’s been as well as the dreams he’s been chasing, not to mention the band behind him gets better and better with every new video drop.
Formally known as Phene, he has performed onstage across the country, from SXSW to headlining numerous car shows along the East Coast with Tuner Evolution.
Stay tuned for more Z. Rich here. You’ll be glad you did.
