Should I even start with “another Brooklyn institution is closing” trope? Thor just bought $17M worth of land at North 6th street to turn into retail. But they’re not the sole culprit.
Also, it’s not because of Starbucks, Duane Reade or whatever. It’s New York City. That’s what it is. It’s the rich vs. the rest of the people. The new developments. The Williamburg right by the waterfront. It’s so many things. It’s exhausting. The Williamsburg of the future will be a neighborhood to be avoided and not because it won’t be cool, it’s because it’ll be lame to hang out at a neighborhood that also caters for the rich and only has retail. So, cool, thanks developers! Thanks rich people! Thanks for your interest in developing another Brooklyn neighborhood! You can thank me for the spilled milk.
