Lissie, talented American folk rock singer and guitarist from Illinois is releasing her new album My Wild West tomorrow, February 12th.
She’s gained a lot of traction since 2004, when she worked with DJ Harry producing “All My Life”, featured in shows like The OC and Veronica Mars. Eventually, in 2008, she opened for Lenny Kravitz’ Love Revolution Tour, being invited after Kravitz seeing her work on her MySpace page. Her collaboration with Dj Morgan Page called “The Longest Road” was Billboard’s number four Hottest Dance Club Song. She then was named Paste Magazine’s best solo artist in 2010 after releasing her debut album Catching a Tiger. The single “When I’m Alone” was released alongside the album and was received with hailing praise by internet fans, and was Itunes UK Song of the Year (2010). She is featured on Snow Patrol’s 2011 album Fallen Empires and is also known for her various covers, which have been described as ‘breathtaking’ including Mother, by Danzig, Free Bird by Lynard Skynard and Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi.
Lissie is most known for her bel canto, a blending, soulful, raspy, and at times resonant, booming vocal talent. Her lyrics generally speak to life lessons and messages of self acceptance, such as in her track Hero, which aims to speak to a younger generation.
She recently moved from California, to a small 10 acre farm in Iowa. The album My Wild West is her way of marking the final pages of a chapter in her life. She now devotes her time to enjoying the smaller pleasures, like beekeeping.
