Brooklyn power trio Fern Mayo have just premiered a simplistic yet raucous new single “Subsweet” (which can be listened to on SoundCloud via Stereogum) from their upcoming EP “Happy Together” which will be available to the public next month on October 2nd on Miscreant Records.
“Subsweet” is indie garage rock at its most primal, simplistic, and powerful. It is proof that some times all you need to make a kick ass song is a guitar, a few chords, a thundering rhythm section, and a voice that goes to the rafters. Stereogum went into further detail on the track saying:
Fern Mayo, a Brooklyn trio led by the big-voiced Katie Capri, play a scratchy, intensely sloppy form of ’90s-style indie rock. Now, via SPIN, here’s the ramshackle, stop-starting follow-up “Subsweet,” a fine example of the DIY warehouse-rock we’ve been hearing so often lately.
