Pop icon Madonna was hospitalized in New York City last Saturday following an unresponsive episode, according to reports received exclusively by Page Six.
The 64-year-old “Material Girl” singer was reportedly intubated for a night and is now responsive and on the path to recovery. It was revealed that her daughter, Lourdes Leon, stayed by her side during this health scare.
Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, disclosed via an Instagram post on Wednesday that the singer was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to a serious bacterial infection. However, Madonna has since been transferred out of the ICU, he confirmed. Despite this, she continues to receive medical care with hopes of making a complete recovery.
Recently, Madonna had celebrated the graduation of her 10-year-old twin daughters, Estere and Stella, from elementary school. She shared a heartfelt post last Wednesday on Instagram showcasing the girls in their graduation outfits, captioned “2 Kweens!!!! Happy Graduation!”
Earlier in the year, the “Express Yourself” singer had announced plans for her “Celebration” tour, commemorating her 40 years in the music industry. However, due to the unexpected medical emergency, the start date for the tour has been postponed. The tour was originally planned to commence on July 15 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. More details regarding the rescheduled shows are expected to be shared soon, Oseary said in his post.
The Grammy-winning singer had planned to perform her greatest hits from her 1983 debut album through to her latest 2019 release, “Madame X.” In a statement to Page Six back in January, Madonna expressed her excitement about the tour, promising to give her fans the show they have been anticipating.
Madonna’s last tour was the “Madame X” tour which took place from September 2019 to March 2020. Her 2008-2009 “Sticky & Sweet Tour” remains the highest-grossing tour by a female artist in history.
