In response to Beats 1 from Apple Music, Rdio has launched various curated playlists.
Though it might not have the user base of Spotify or clout of Apple, Rdio has gathered an impressive list of labels and “influencers” to helm a new series of stations including DFA Records, XL Recordings, Blue Note and more.
The playlists will be available in more countries now as well, including Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand says The Verge. Many of the stations are now available to all users – free, select and unlimited. The stations are meant to focus on “human taste” producing playlists that are better than those created through algorithms. math is great but really music is all about the human component and that’s what Rdio is emphasizing. By working directly with labels and “influencers” these curated playlists are bound to be something incredible.
