“I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that [VP of Amazon Studios] Roy Price will regret this,” Woody Allen said in a press release.
The funny thing to me about this news is that Amazon seems to be after prestige. Don’t be fooled about those Golden Globes, that award is pretty much a sham, but it looks good on your press releases and tweet sentiment. Allen is an auteur, he does his thing, so Amazon is probably not concerned about revenue at all. If they were, I’d say Allen would not be their top choice.
